Drew Powell stars as Bud – a slacker in every way except when it comes to his ambition to become a full-fledged rock star. At 36, Bud still lives at home with his parents and sees absolutely nothing wrong with it. Single and jobless (unless you count hosting Karaoke night at The Pickled Onion a job), Bud has refused to enter into adulthood and believes that anyone who does is a sucker -- and he makes sure to remind Vincent, Marty and Vargas of this every time they jam. He’s the lead singer and front man of the band, and despite his rough, tell-it-like it is exterior, his passion for music and success lights a fire under the others.
Drew is known for his current portrayal of Butch Gilzean of the hit FOX show, “Gotham”. His other recent credits include roles on “The Mentalist”, “Southland”, “Leverage”, “True Blood”, “Modern Family”, “Ray Donovan”, “Castle” and many, many more.
Matt Carmody stars as Marty – the recently divorced, perpetually crying, sad-sack of the group. Marty was most popular in high school, voted most likely to succeed, prom king, you name it – but those days are all behind him. Nearing his 40th birthday, he lives in a run-down bachelor apartment and works in the mall as the manager at a Build-a-Bear kiosk. He plays guitar in the band, but not that well. Fortunately for him, he has his friends to help him through these trying times.
Matt is the creator, director, co-writer of “Man Jam”. He has worked as an actor on dozens of television shows including NCIS, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Dark Blue. He also starred as Adam Cartwright on the series “Ponderosa”, a prequel to the “Bonanza” series. He has also penned several feature screenplays, directed short films and produced other television projects through his production company, Westbrook Pictures.
Justin Wade stars as Vincent – a Pilates teacher, yoga master and all around spiritual advisor to his friends. He’s the drummer in the band and hosts the weekly jam in his converted garage/man cave. He lives with his Jamaican baby-momma, Charmaine, and their 2 year old daughter, Rascal. Vincent grows his own weed in his backyard and it’s safe to say that Vincent is probably high 23 hours of the day. Half-Jamaican, half-French Canadian, Vincent is a living, breathing melting-pot.
In addition to Man Jam, Justin is known for his regular appearances doing stand-up at the Comedy Store. He has appeared on “Hot in Cleveland”, “Don’t Trust the B*** in Apartment 23”, “Franklin & Bash” and many others.
Joe Pascual stars as Vargas – the new addition to the Man Jam band. He’s a computer whiz and also a bit of a guitar virtuoso. Initially, his presence is seen as a threat by Marty, a much inferior guitar player, but eventually he falls right into sync with the guys and brings the level of their playing way up. (It had nowhere else to go) Vargas is the straight arrow of the group – he has a good job, a healthy relationship with a steady girl, no drama. But all that is sure to change the more he hangs out with Bud, Marty and Vincent.
Joe is known for his roles on “Lincoln Heights”, “Da Vinci’s Request” and for his recurring role as Medhaut Westhusing on “Mercy Point”.
Sandra McCurdy plays the role of Charmaine, Vincent’s live-in girlfriend and baby-momma to their two-year old daughter, Rascal. In two words, or one hyphenated word, Charmaine is a ball-buster. She’s a full-blooded Jamaican who doesn’t suffer fools – especially Bud, Marty and Vargas. She’d prefer Vincent spent less time playing the drums and more time helping out with the child rearing duties.
Sandra was born in Jamaica and grew up in Toronto. She started out working as a model in Canada and New York before coming to Los Angeles to act. As an actress she has appeared on numerous television shows including “CSI: Miami”, “Monk”, “Nip-Tuck” and “Las Vegas”. Sandra also works steadily behind the camera as a director and cinematographer, including as a D.P. and producer of “Man Jam”.
Man Jam centers on a group of friends who get together weekly to play music in order to escape their day-to-day, hum-drum lives. We follow the guys as they struggle with marriage, divorce, raising kids, work, growing up – and refusing to grow up. Bud, Marty, Vincent & Vargas are all on the verge of a mid-life crisis so it’s a good thing they have each other – and music – to get them through. Man Jam stars Drew Powell as Bud (“Gotham”, “The Mentalist”), Justin Wade as Vincent (“Hot in Cleveland”, “Franklin & Bash”), Matt Carmody as Marty (“NCIS”, “CSI: Miami”) and Joe Pascual as Vargas (“Lincoln Heights”). The series was created by Matt Carmody and co-written by Carmody and Boyd Vico (“The Soup”, “The Nerdist”). Matt also serves as executive producer along with Sandra McCurdy. Man Jam is produced by Westbrook Pictures and distributed through dotstudioPRO.
